Why you have to see Rhapsody / Two Pigeons: Reason #2

RACHMANINOV. The music for Rhapsody is the beautiful and famous “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini”. You will instantly recognize the lyrical theme for the exquisite pas de deux.

Watch the first 4 minutes of this video for some interesting insights on the music (or you can watch the whole thing!):

Here's the original piece by Paganini, who was renowned for his remarkable virtuosity:

Watch out for "Paganini playing his violin" moments in the choreography for the lead male dancer.

The Royal Ballet is relaying this program live to cinemas in January (January 31 at 1255 in Cineplex and Landmark Cinemas in Canada).
To find a location and screening date, near you, use the Royal Opera House search function (but double-check with your local cinema as the listings are not always up-to-date): http://www.roh.org.uk/showings/two-pigeonsrhapsody-live-2016
